KQ revealed that the adjustments will ensure smoother and more efficient operations.
National carrier, Kenya Airways (KQ) is preparing for one of its busiest periods of the year, the peak season that is expected to reach a maximum during the festive season, and to do this, it has made adjustments to its flight network.
In a statement to newsrooms dated Friday, October 11, KQ revealed that the adjustments will ensure smoother and more efficient operations.
Five routes are set to have their frequencies increased to accommodate an influx of local and international travellers flying out of its main hub at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, including those flying on the non-stop ultra-long-haul route to New York in the United States (US).

The following are the network adjustments:

With the decision anticipated to disrupt the schedules of those meant to fly to Somalia, KQ revealed that it would reach out to them to deliberate on alternative options.
“Passengers holding bookings on affected flights to or from Mogadishu issued on/ before 4th October 2024 and for travel or/ before 15th Oct 2024 will be contacted by Kenya Airways to arrange alternative travel options, including rebooking, refunds, or rerouting,” KQ assured Somalia-bound passengers.
Kenya Airways affirmed its commitment to continuously optimizing its flight schedule to better align with demand and performance objectives while ensuring the safety of its crew and passengers
