Christopher George Pearce, a 59-year-old paedophile, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after a 40-year history of abusing young children.
Pearce’s appalling crimes began in Hammersmith in 1984, targeting children aged five and seven. His abuse continued until 1988, with further offences against two more children, aged six and seven, in Chelsea.
In 2020, Pearce attempted to groom a child online, which led to his arrest by Met Police officers. When his name appeared online, two victims from the 1980s bravely reported his past crimes.
His sentencing took place at Isleworth Crown Court.

Detective Sergeant Tony Larkin, who headed the investigation, expressed gratitude to the victims for their courage in coming forward and cooperating with officers through a long and complex process.
He hopes their bravery will inspire others who may be afraid to report such abuse. Larkin stated that Pearce has been a dangerous child sex offender since 1984 and is now unable to harm children further.
Larkin commended the officers involved for their dedication in achieving justice for the victims, calling them a credit to the Met. He encouraged any victims of sexual abuse, regardless of how long ago it occurred, to report it to the police, assuring them they will be heard and supported.
