The governor held a press briefing at his office shortly after the release of his right-hand man – the Mombasa County Executive Committee Member for Lands Mohamed Hussein, alias Amadoh, stating that he was a victim who expressed determination to clear his name.

“If there is anyone who wants to clear their name in this matter, it is none other than myself. The summons were to delay, we were requested not to go today anymore,” he stated.

He claimed that political motives are behind the allegations linking him to the gang rape, mentioning that both his and his mother’s homes have been attacked twice before the blogger’s abduction and gang rape.

The Mombasa County boss also claimed that armed men had been following his vehicle, but despite reporting this to authorities, no action has been taken. However, he did not provide an OB number to substantiate his claims when questioned by journalists.

Nassir, during the presser, also revealed that his mother’s home was invaded by unknown persons who made away with electronics.

“I want to now give my version. I have tried to hold on for so long. About a couple of weeks before the unfortunate incident that is said to have been done on this young man, I live next to my mother, and her house was invaded twice and we reported the incidents.”

“During the invasion, nothing else was taken except a laptop and a mobile phone, and CCTV footage were provided. When a video started circulating talking of words I cannot state about my mother, the first thing I did was speak to my family and we decided to leave this to all mighty,” he said.

In addition, he indicated that the blogger had earlier sent him over 800 messages which he did not respond to.

Describing it as a trying time for himself and his family, the governor was adamant that his name was getting dragged in the mud by his enemies.

“I’ve been in politics for in excess of a decade and throughout my life, neither myself nor any of my family members have ever crossed the line of metting any form of violence on anyone,” he told the press adding, “When I go out on public platforms, my policy is a policy of never mentioning anyone, talking vulgarly, or doing anything.”

He went on, “It’s a bit shocking that it is now being deemed for the public perception that both myself and my 74-year-old mother would be part and parcel of a heinous act of this magnitude. We have never nor will we ever stoop that low.”

Governor Nassir was accompanied to the press briefing by Jomvu MP Badi Twalib, Mvita MP Mohamed Soud Machele, and other county officials.

The 24-year-old was allegedly abducted on September 12 by a group of about 20 county officers from his home in Bamburi.

The group reportedly assaulted and sodomised him before leaving him at a dump site. He says they forced him to apologise for criticising the Mombasa County government.

Four people, Muthoni John (alias Totoo), Violet Adera (alias Vayoo), Abdul Hassan Athman (alias Sindimba), and Haji Babu Ndau Mohamed (alias Achkobe), were initially arrested on Thursday in connection with the conspiracy to abduct and abuse the blogger.

The court heard that the four abducted the blogger at the Bamburi Jitegemee area in Kisauni. Two of the suspects faced further charges of injuring the victim using blows and kicks.
