ACI honoured MIA with the prestigious award for excellence in customer service.
Moi International Airport in Mombasa County has been recognised and bestowed the award of the best airport in terms of excellence in customer service.
The award was presented by Airport’s Council International (ACI World), which contributes to the global aviation industry’s safety, security, and sustainability by advancing the collective interests of airports and the communities they serve and promoting excellence in airport management and operations.
In a statement, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) revealed that ACI honoured MIA with the prestigious award for excellence in customer service.

“MIA has been recognized as the Best Airport by Size and Region in the Under 2 Million Passengers Per Year category for Africa, a distinction awarded through what is considered the aviation industry’s most comprehensive passenger service benchmarking program,” stated KAA in part.
“The award was presented to Mr. Abel Gogo, KAA’s Regional Airport Manager in charge of Moi International Airport and the Coast Region, during the ongoing annual ACI World Customer Experience Summit and Exhibition in Atlanta, Georgia.”
KAA added that the recognition underscores Moi International Airport’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional customer service and enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers.
Earlier this year, the airport was named the best in Africa in the category of airports that process traffic below 2 million passengers annually.
On Thursday, March 14, KAA remarked that the award stemmed from a survey conducted by the international institution for passengers who used the airport in 2023. The survey was done upon arrival and departure at the airport.
“ACI World’s ASQ Awards are an annual celebration of excellence in airport customer experience, gauged through Departure and Arrival Surveys. Since its inception in 2006, the ASQ program has solidified its reputation as the leading airport passenger satisfaction benchmark, with participation from more than 400 airports in 109 countries,” KAA stated in part.
The accolade from ACI World, delivered in partnership with technology giant Amadeus, reflected MIA’s continuous dedication to enhancing customer experience and maintaining high service quality standards.
These efforts were particularly noteworthy given the challenging climate of the aviation industry in recent times.
MIA previously earned the title for the best airport in the same category for Africa in 2021 and 2022, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to passenger service excellence.
Ranked alongside the major airports were the likes of Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (Zanzibar, Tanzania) and Ivato International Airport (Antananarivo, Madagascar).
