Urgent search launched after a man, 28, allegedly fled police custody

An urgent search has been launched for a man who escaped police custody more than 12 hours ago.

Mulla Altinok, 28, was last seen on Meredith Street, in Bankstown, in Sydney’s west, about 6.30am on Saturday.

Altinok remains on the run and an investigation is launched to find him.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, approximately 165cm tall, with a stocky build and a shaved head.

He also has numerous tattoos on his upper body.

Altinok was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt with a white collar, gray sweatpants and no shoes.

Police have urged anyone who sees Altinok not to approach him but to call Triple Zero immediately.
