Renowned televangelist Pastor James Ng’ang’a recently shared how unveiling his second wife, Murugi Maina, led to a mass exodus from his church.

Ng’ang’a, 70, and the founder of Neno Evangelism, revealed that around 700 women left his congregation after he introduced his new spouse who is in her late thirties during a service.

What Happened to Pastor Ng’ang’a First Wife

Pastor Ng’ang’a shared that his first wife, who had passed away, left him while pregnant with twins. She said she was going to her parents’ house to get some clothes but never came back.

He tried to work things out with her, but they couldn’t fully reconcile before her death, which remains unexplained.

On June 30, 2012, Pastor Ng’ang’a remarried, tying the knot with Murugi at the Windsor Golf Club.

But when he introduced her to his congregation, some of the female congregants who had hoped to be his second wife so outraged and disappointed, that 700 of them, including ushers walked out of his church

“When I wanted to marry my wife, the church had a big problem. The church was so full. Several women had been approaching me because, when you have anointing and wealth, many women want to come into your life,” Ng’ang’a told his congregation.

“When I introduced my wife, 700 women stood and walked away. They knew my first wife was dead and had hoped I would pick them,”

Ng’ang’a revealed that he lost about 4,000 congregants following the introduction.

Despite the mass exit, the preacher stood his ground, telling those who couldn’t accept his decision to leave.

“I told them to go away. She was mine, not God’s,”

At some point, Pastor Ng’ang’a and Murugi Maina separated, and she even filed a Sh535,000 child support claim for their then 1-year-old daughter. But they reconciled after some time and appear to be happily married.
