Govt announces free entry to Maasai Mara, other national parks countrywide

All Kenyans will be granted free entry to national parks countrywide on September 28, 2024, the government has announced.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary (CS) Rebecca Miano confirmed the latest saying the move will promote and encourage local tourism across the country in celebration of the United Nations World Tourism Day 2024.

“In our bid  to  promote and encourage local tourism, a momentous opportunity is here! Mark the date,” she wrote on her official X account.

The announcement approved by President William Ruto in a cabinet meeting he chaired on Tuesday, September 18, 2024, will allow Kenyans across the country to indulge in the country’s rich heritage and picturesque sceneries of landscapes and wild life with friends and families.

They will also have the opportunity  to attend events hosted in honor of the National Tourism Week which starts from September 22, 2024, to September 28, 2024.  

All parks including the Maasai Mara, Tsavo National Park, Amboseli, and the Nairobi National Park will have a free entry access.
