11 Sections To Remove From Your CV

REMOVE THESE SECTIONS FROM YOUR CV

1. Personal Information: Avoid including sensitive personal details such as: Date of birth, Marital status, ID Number, KRA PIN number, Gender, Religion

2. Photograph: Unless specifically requested by the employer (common in some countries), do not include a photo.

3. Salary Information: Do not mention your current or expected salary.

4. Reasons for Leaving Previous Jobs: It is not necessary to explain why you left a previous job.

5. Full Address: Typically, including your city and county or just the city is sufficient. A full home address is not needed.

6. Every Job Ever Held: Only list relevant and recent work experience. Including every job you’ve ever held can make your CV overly long and cluttered.

7. Irrelevant Work Experience: Jobs that are not related to the position you are applying for, especially if they are from a long time ago, should be omitted.

8. References: Listing references or writing “References available upon request” is unnecessary unless specifically asked for by the employer.

9. Personal Hobbies: Avoid listing hobbies unless they are directly relevant to the job.

10. Excessive Details on Education: Do not include details like high school if you have higher education degrees, or list every course taken unless relevant to the job.

11. Outdated or Irrelevant Skills: Avoid listing skills that are no longer relevant to the job market or not applicable to the role you are applying for.
