New US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau celebrated his victory on Sunday evening by hitting glow-in-the-dark golf balls at Donald Trump’s golf course in Westchester.

The American claimed the second US Open title of his career on a dramatic final day at Pinehurst, where he ultimately held his nerve to triumph after an extraordinary collapse from Rory McIlroy.

While McIlroy stormed straight out and headed home after his late surrender, DeChambeau celebrated his first major triumph in four years with Trump’s family at his Westchester National Golf Club.

The former president, who was unable to attend, sent a video message of congratulations the night before things took a boozy turn, with Bryson soon drinking wine from his US Open trophy alongside Trump’s son Eric.

And later that evening, a brilliant video has emerged of him having a late-night driving session in the dark at one of the tracks in Westchester.

Eric’s wife Lara Lea posted a video of DeChambeau hitting glow-in-the-dark golf balls far into the distance as the onlookers let out huge cheers.

“Send it, Bryson,” Lara Lea wrote alongside the video.

In addition to securing a second major of his career, DeChambeau also pocketed a stunning $4.3 million for his victory on Sunday – which will always be remembered for the way McIlroy collapsed on the final holes.

The Northern Irishman bogeyed three of the last five, with two putts from a combined range of two meters extending his two-shot lead and allowing his nearest rival to lead him to victory.

Trump, who has close ties to LIV and has been seen at a handful of their events in recent years, posted a congratulatory message to fellow American DeChambeau on Truth Social on Sunday night and even appeared to take a dig at McIlroy.

He spoke of ‘toughness and inner strength’ and praised LIV golf – of which McIlroy has been fierce critics in the past.

The 78-year-old wrote: ‘Congratulations to Bryson DeChambeau on his incredible win at the United States Open!

‘He showed a toughness and inner strength, perfectly combined with his AMAZING golf talent, that can never be denied! Under immense pressure, he made some of the best shots ever made, especially his spectacular save in the sand on the 18th hole that gave him the victory.

‘Mr. 58’ has always been a WINNER and will continue to many more major championships. He really is a tough competitor, even an annoying one, but he’s also a great guy. The US couldn’t be better represented.

“Congratulations also to LIV Golf for their brilliance in signing Bryson and other of the best golfers in the world.

‘Hopefully Golf will soon come together as one, fully united, and that’s as it should be!’
