Several shut in after road incident on Eldoret-Nakuru Highway – Rèď Cróss

Passengers are t*****d after a road incident occurred along the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway on Saturday, September 14, 2024, Rèď Cróss reports.

Preliminary reports indicate that the incident involved a 14-seater matatu and a lorry, adding to the growing list of accidents along the road.

In a statement, the Kenya R*******s stated that they had dispatched a rescue team to the scene of the accident, where several passengers and crew were t*****d in the wreckage of the c*r following the impact of the vehicles.

“A road traffic incident involving a 14-seater PSV and a lorry has occurred at Twin Bridge on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway. There are t*****d casualties, and response teams are on-site,” the statement noted.

This comes barely a week after two 14-seater matatus rammed into each other, causing the deaths of two individuals on Monday, September 9, 2024.

The accident also left at least 20 p****e nursing serious injuries in various hospitals in the region.

Accident-prone road

The majority of the victims of the accident were a team of athletes who had just concluded their participation at the Nairobi City Marathon and were on their way back home.

On the same day, a High Court judge was admitted to a hospital after a vehicle she was travelling in was involved in a traffic accident along the Eldama Ravine-Nakuru Road.

Lady Justice Thripsisa Wanjiku Wamae is said to have sustained injuries after her vehicle rolled and landed in a ditch.

“Hon. Lady Justice Thripsisa Wanjiku Wamae, a Judge of the High Court and Presiding Judge, Isiolo High Court, has regrettably been involved in a road traffic accident along the Eldama Ravine-Nakuru Road. She is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. We wish the Hon Judge quick recovery,” a statement from the Judiciary noted.

Reports indicate that the vehicle had two other occupants at the time of the accident who also sustained injuries.

Mogotio OCPD Felician Nafula confirmed the accident, stating that the Ford model vehicle with government license plates rolled into a ditch with three occupants in it.

The judiciary indicated that the judge was in stable condition after she was removed from the scene of the accident.
