7-hour blackout to hit parts of Kenya on Saturday

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage set for Saturday, September 14, 2024, that will affect parts of the country.

The outage is planned for maintenance purposes, with different regions experiencing temporary power cuts throughout the day.

In a statement on its official website, Kenya Power said, “Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as follows: (Periodic interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of power lines, connect new customers, or replace power lines during construction, etc.).”

The temporary outage is expected to have a significant impact on various sectors and daily activities in these areas.

Kenya Power said the scheduled blackout, which is expected to last for seven hours on Saturday, will affect several places within Uasin Gichu county.

Affected places

The scheduled power blackout in Uasin Gichu County will affect the areas of Kipkeino and Kosyin.

Affected customers include residents of Chiv Construction Limited, Hari Pipe Company, Kipkeino Centre, Kosyin Dispensary and Centre, Tangit Centre, Kamagut High School, Kamagut Missionary Hospital, Victoria Water Pump and adjacent customers.

Electricity is set to go off at 10 am until 5 pm when Kenya Power said it will be restored.
