A young couple has been criticised after a wedding guest leaked a copy of their dress code.
The bride and groom had requested that their guests attend in semi-formal attire – a reasonable request.
However, they also gave the guests a color palette of ‘accepted’ shades that they could appear in and each shade was a shade of ‘nude’.
The invitation read “An All Nude Affair,” which landed it on a popular Facebook group that ridiculed weddings.
Tea-length dresses, formal wear and suits with ties were requested.
“We kindly request that you wear your finest, semi-formal attire in our chosen color palette,” the invitation read.
The colors are printed below and range from beige to brown and black.
While many agreed to the request, more people were “angry” about the “unfair” and “beige” request.

“Unless I’m closely related or super close friends, if I don’t already have a dress in their chosen color scheme, I’m not going. You’ll be wearing a beige semi-formal dress just as often as you’ll be wearing a bridesmaid dress,” one woman raged.
‘Asking guests to wear specific colors to your wedding is insane. I can’t believe there are people who expect their guests to buy new clothes if they don’t already have formal clothes in those colors just to accommodate their personal vision. Absolutely ridiculous,’ wrote another.
A third added: ‘A wedding dress code is about the comfort of your guests, not the approval of your Instagram followers.’
Most people agreed that there would be “lots of black” at the wedding.
“I should wear black because I don’t have any brown or beige and would never buy it,” one woman said.
Others said the color scheme wouldn’t have had the effect the couple was looking for anyway.
‘Besides the fact that dictating clothing colors is annoying, this won’t be “insta-worthy” anyway, even if everyone follows it. It will just look like people are wearing random colors, it won’t be clear to people looking at the photos that a color scheme was followed,’ said one woman.
Some said the theme worked for them.
“I would just show up naked, with a light-colored handbag expertly tilted… and bright purple lipstick,” one woman said.
One of the brides stood up for the couple and said that it is completely normal for people to wear certain colors.
“My wedding is next month and I kindly asked my guests to stick to the color palette and everyone was happy with that. We pay so much for our weddings and everyone is different. Kindly asking your guests to help you make your vision a reality is not something to be ashamed of when you are not the one paying for the event,” she wrote.
