Former Bomachoge MP Simon Ogari is dead

Former Bomachoge and Bomachoge Chache Member of Parliament (MP) Simon Ogari is dead.

The two-time legislator died at his home in Karen, Nairobi, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the age of 68.

The former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP served in parliament for the 10th and 11th parliaments between 2008 and 2017 in two different constituencies.

Who is Ogari

Ogari was a member of the ODM party.

He was elected Bomachoge MP in a by-election in 2009 on an ODM ticket and in the 2013 General Election, Ogari was re-elected as the first MP for the newly created Bomachoge Chache Constituency under the 2010 Constitution.

He also served as Transport assistant minister in 2010 and later served as assistant minister of Information and Communications between 2012 and 2013 in the grand coalition government after being picked by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Senator Onyonka’s condolence message

Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka took to his social media to mourn the former ODM MP describing him as a polite, kind and selfless leader who was simple to a fault.

Additionally, the vocal Senator disclosed that he served with him in the 10th and 11th Parliaments.

“It is with great sorrow that I learn of the passing of Hon. Simon Ogari, former MP for Bomachoge. He was a polite, kind and selfless man who was simple to a fault. Besides being a good leader and colleague, he was my personal friend for many years,” Onyonka stated.

“I served with Hon Simon Ogari in the 10th and 11th Parliament. He was a polite, kind and selfless man who was simple to a fault. My heart goes to the family, the p****e of Bomachoge and Kisii County as a whole.”

“He was a good man whom I will personally miss. His legacy of dedicated service to Bomachoge in the 10th and Bomachoge Chache in the 11th Parliaments will remain a guiding example for all of us in leadership. Ogari worked tirelessly to uplift the lives of his constituents, and his contributions to our community will not be forgotten.”
