10 counties scheduled for blackout on Tuesday

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled power interruptions that will affect the supply of electricity to 10 counties.

In a statement issued on the evening of Monday, September 10, 2024, Kenya Power said the blackout will be a result of scheduled maintenance which will last from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Here are the counties that will be affected;

Laikipia

In Laikipia County, the whole of Doldol market, Olkinyei, Kiwanja Ndege, Illipollei, Kaimanjo, Ol-Donyiro and adjacent customers will be affected.

Kiambu

In Kiambu county, parts of Rironi, Kiroe, Ngecha, Mahinga, KBC Rironi, Gitangu, Ngecha, Tilisi, Nduma, Mirithu, Swatch, Luquman Petrol Station and adjacent customers will be affected.

Nairobi

According to Kenya Power, parts of Parklands will be hit by the blackout on Tuesday. The areas in Parklands that will be affected are 1st Parklands Road, Ita Road, Swami Papa Road, Batubatu Estate, Part of 2nd Parklands Road, Jaralam Road, Mpaka Road, Ring Road, Mwanzi Road, Shivachi Road, Banderi Road, Masari Road and adjacent customers.

Makueni

In Makueni, the blackout will affect Itangini Market, Kaumoni, Ngoluni, Kisau Girls, Mbumbuni Market, No Nyanya, Ngaa, Kithungo, Tawa, Kalawani, Wanzauni, Kikima, Mavindu, Uvaani, Kyuu Nzeveni and adjacent customers.

Bomet

In Bomet, the blackout that will last from 9 am to 4 pm will affect the Soymet area.

The specific areas to be affected are Kapletundo Market, Kimolwet Market, Kimawit, Chebango EPZ, Kipketii Primary School, Kamogoso, Chebole Market, Daima Dairies and adjacent customers.

Nyandarua

In Nyandarua, the blackout that will last from 9 am to 5 pm will affect Weru and Murungaru areas.

The specific areas to be affected according to the Kenya Power schedule are whole of Weru, Githabai, Kwa Joma, Koinange, Gituro, Kiahuko, Kwa White, Kirima, Kwa Ben, Elmer Resort, Rimiflora, Murungaru Center, Top Harvest Farm, Memo Centre, Turasha, Mwangaza, Kihumbu, Jura, Lereshwa, Neema Children’s Home and adjacent customers.

Uasin Gishu

The Uasin Gishu County blackout will last from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. According to Kenya Power, the blackout will hit Lemook Center, Kapseret.

The specific areas to be affected are Kapseret Lemook, Mosombor School, Kapteldon, Nilkath Quarry, Shajnaand Quarry and adjacent customers.

Kisii

Kisii County will partially experience a blackout in the Nyamataro area, which will last from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The specific areas to be affected are part of Nyamataro Market, Kiamwasi Youth Polytechnic, Kiamwasi Dispensary, Nyamorenyo, Mochengo and adjacent customers.

Homa Bay

In Homa Bay county, the blackout will hit Ligodho and Riat markets from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The specific areas to be affected are Sukari Industry, Oridi Girls, Ligodho, Pala Kamenya, Riat Market and adjacent customers.

Nyeri

Zinc, Mweru and Mihuti areas will experience the blackout between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

The specific areas to be affected are Zinc, Giathugu, South Tetu Girls Secondary School, Mweru, Mihuti and adjacent customers.
