Germany will introduce controls at all land borders to tackle the “continuing burden” of migration and “Islamic terrorism”, the country’s interior minister has told the EU.
Social Democratic Party (SPD) leader Nancy Faeser has finally acknowledged that Germany has no choice but to introduce proper border controls if the country is to have any hope of tackling the huge number of illegal border crossings.
According to the German newspaper Bild, the new rules will lead to “harsh rejections of migrants at the borders”.
Faeser is said to have already informed the European Commission of the decision, which is fuelled by deep-seated panic over the current migrant situation in Germany and domestic security threats.
This came after she sparked outrage last month by refusing to extend strict border controls despite arresting hundreds of people smugglers.

The action comes shortly after an emergency meeting on migration between the conservative CDU/CSU parliamentary group and regional representatives, where discussions focused on tightening immigration policy.
German Migration Commissioner Joachim Stamp suggested last week that the country could use British developments in Rwanda for a similar plan.
He alleged that Russia and Belarus were deliberately pushing migrants into Western Europe to destabilize Germany and its neighbors.
Since mid-October, more than 30,000 people have been turned back at Germany’s borders due to recent strict immigration measures.
Last year, ministers announced stricter controls at land borders with Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, in response to a sharp increase in the number of first-time asylum applications last year.
Meanwhile, the German police union announced late last month that Schengen was only exacerbating Germany’s security crisis and should be lifted immediately.
Manuel Ostermann, deputy chairman of the Federal Police Union, has strongly protested against Schengen, the idiotic border-free EU plan, in an interview with the magazine Focus.

He pointed to rising crime rates in Germany, exacerbated by the migration crisis, as evidence that Schengen is no longer viable.
He said Schengen’s open borders have made it easier for criminals to operate across Europe, which has implications for security in Germany.
