Ruth Langsford joked she’d be a ‘spiteful ex’ if Eamonn Holmes, 64, ran off with a younger woman in unearthed clip – amid his holiday with new girlfriend Katie Alexander, 42

Ruth Langsford joked she would be a “hateful ex” if her husband Eamonn Holmes ran off with a younger woman, a video has emerged.

The TV star couple shocked the showbiz world in May when Ruth announced they were divorcing after 14 years of marriage.

Eamonn, 64, is now in a relationship with younger woman Katie Alexander, 42. The new couple recently went on a cruise holiday together.

However, five years before their split was announced, Ruth, 64, and Eamonn joked about him potentially running off with a younger woman, while discussing the then-romance between Bake Off star Paul Hollywood and former barmaid Summer Monteys-Fullam, who was a very different age at the time.

In a 2019 episode of This Morning, he playfully said that any young, single woman could “take” her then-husband, while suggesting he might run off with a younger woman, in an attempt to defend Paul’s then-romance.

As the couple prepared to present the soap segment, Ruth broached the subject of the bitter break-up after Paul split from girlfriend Summer that weekend.

The couple’s relationship came to a turbulent end after the barmaid, then 24, refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement for the Great British Bake Off star, then 53. Since then, the pair have traded scathing comments in a series of cryptic tweets.

Eamonn explained to viewers: ‘The baker, the Great British Bake Off man, Paul Hollywood. He’s 53 years old and everyone is furious that he has a girlfriend called Summer, not because her name is Summer, but because she’s 24.’

The Irish presenter seemed to want to defend Paul. He turned to Ruth and said: ‘People like you, huffing and puffing and saying, “Well.” What if I run off with a 24-year-old?’

But then Ruth seemed to turn to the younger women watching and said, “Take him seriously, he’s yours.”

Eamonn joked that he would be left with a “hateful ex” if he chose to leave Ruth, so she said: “I would be so hateful. You wouldn’t want me.”

The ironic moment was highlighted this week by Summer Monteys-Fullam, now 28, who took to Instagram to slam the former couple and ridicule their then-romance.

Summer shared a clip from an article about Eammons vacationing with his new love, who is 22 years younger than him. She circled the age difference and asked, “Do I need to say anything else?” using laughing emojis.

Five years before their split was announced, Ruth, 64, and Eamonn joked about his possible departure for a younger woman while discussing the then-romance between Bake Off star Paul Hollywood and former barmaid Summer Monteys-Fullam.

Then she added, “If you know, you know.”

She indicated she was still angry about the incident, adding: “I do not forget and I do not forgive.”

This comes as Eamonn and Ruth have decided not to attend the National Television Awards on Wednesday night.

The GB News presenter is skipping the annual starry night and instead enjoying a luxury holiday with his new girlfriend.

Although the presenter has not yet been nominated for an award, Eamonn is still avoiding invitations to watch the ceremony in a box, The Express reports.

Ruth, the 64-year-old Loose Women presenter, also decided to skip the NTAs to avoid ‘an awkward encounter’ with Eamonn ahead of his romantic trip to Katie – despite the ITV lunchtime show being up for an award.

The couple have been guests at the NTAs several times before and last appeared arm in arm on the red carpet in 2021.
