Head of Private Sector Unit

The Head of the Private Sector Unit (PSU) will provide overall strategic and managerial guidance as well as resource mobilization from partners to enable successful implementation of the AfCFTA Private Sector Engagement Plan. She/He will also be the key relationship manager interfacing with senior management from public and private sector organizations on the delivery of interventions and identify opportunities to attain the objectives of the Engagement Plan. She/he will also liaise with the regional economic communities and continental business councils on implementation of the AfCFTA private sector engagement plan.
The Head of PSU will report to the AfCFTA Secretary-General and work closely with the Directors of the AfCFTA Secretariat. She/He will lead the Private Sector Unit team including the Agriculture Lead, M&E Expert, Finance and Investment Expert, Value Chain Officers, and pool of Analysts. The Head of PSU will also lead the relationship with senior level officers from public and private partner organizations.

Agriculture Lead

The Agriculture Lead will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day tasks required to deliver interventions within the agriculture value chains. In addition, s/he will be responsible for providing in-depth technical knowledge/subject matter expertise on the interventions under the value chains. S/he will be the key contact for liaising with team members of the private sector stakeholders collaborating with the Secretariat to deliver the interventions. The Agriculture Lead will also oversee building relationships with the value chain key stakeholders. The Agriculture Lead will report to the Head of Private Sector Unit and lead the Value Chain Officers. S/he will also lead the Senior Analysts and Analysts within the unit. The Agriculture Lead will also own and lead the relationship with agriculture stakeholders from other public and private partner organizations.

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Expert

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Expert will be responsible for designing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation framework for the AfCFTA Private Sector Unit’s programs. The M&E Expert will work closely with program teams to select key performance indicators (KPIs) and to collect, analyze and report on program data. The M&E Expert will also ensure that the results are shared with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, partners, and program beneficiaries. The REC Coordinator will report to the Head of the Private Sector Unit, and work with the other technical experts and value chain officers to ensure that the M&E is effective. She/he will lead the Analysts within the Private Sector Unit to create M&E frameworks / plans and carry out M&E efforts at the value chain level, on a needs basis. The M&E Expert will also communicate program results to relevant stakeholders, including AfCFTA member states and private sector stakeholders

Women, Youth & MSMEs Lead

The Women, Youth & MSMEs Lead job is responsible for ensuring that programs and interventions across all value chains have a positive impact on women, youth, and SMEs by supporting value chain leads in the design and implementation of their programs, providing key insights and subject-matter expertise, liaising with private sector stakeholders, building relationships with key stakeholders to measure impact. The Women, Youth & SMEs Lead will report to the Head of the Private Sector Unit, and work with the Value Chain Officers, and pool of Analysts within the Private Sector Unit. She/He will direct the Officers and Analysts within the unit on all matters related to inclusivity, on a need basis. The Women, Youth & SMEs Lead will also own and lead the program-based relationship with stakeholders from other public and private partner organizations.

Value Chain Officer

The Program Management Officer will report to the Head of Private Sector Unit and work with the Value Chain Officers, technical leads, and experts, within the Private Sector Unit, on a need basis.

Executive Assistant

To provide general office management and professional support for the effective and efficient running of the Office of the Head of the Private Sector Unit. The Executive Assistant will report to the Head of the Private Sector Unit, and work with all members within the Private Sector Unit, including value chain leads, coordinators, officers, and analysts.
