In accordance with the legislation in force, detailed in the Opening Notice in the Portuguese language, the Embassy of Portugal in Nairobi hereby announces that external procedures are open for a period of 10 working days from the date of publication of this notice to fill two positions for Technical Assistants (Technical Assistant career of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs external network).

The terms of this competition are set out in the Opening Notice and other published documents, available below:

This courtesy English translation has no legal value:

  • Net monthly salary 424,35 EURO (paid 14 months) plus a daily meal allowance of 5,61 EURO (working days). Net annual amount (deductions to KRA are made directly by the Embassy): 5940,90 EURO + meal allowance;
  • 22 annual days of paid leave + 14 days of National Holidays (combination of Portuguese and Kenyan holidays);
  • Trial period of 120 days;
  • Health insurance for the worker and dependents and payments to the NSSF (6% paid by the worker, plus 6% paid by the Embassy);
  • Work contract according to the Portuguese legislation;
  • Tasks: support to the consular section, visa processing tasks and other administrative tasks.

Requirements:

  • Mandatory requirements according to Portuguese law (more than 18 years old, physically and mentally fit, compliance with vaccination laws);
  • Completion of secondary school (12 years of schooling);
  • Be a resident of Kenya or have a valid work permit (for Portuguese or other foreign candidates, the resident permit requirement procedure will need to be initiated and/or obtained within 30 days of the selection notification);
  • Compliant with KRA and NSSF;
  • Solid knowledge of English, spoken and written;
  • Knowledge of Swahili and/or Portuguese as preferential factors.

The following documents must accompany the application: Curriculum Vitae (dated and signed by the candidate); copy of diplomas and qualifications (KCSE Certificate is mandatory), police clearance certificate (can be presented at a later stage, maximum within 5 working days of the selection notification). Any reference letters and proof of professional experience are welcomed.

The selection will be made through an evaluation of the curriculum (20%), a written exam (35%) and an interview (45%). Details regarding these selection methods are in the official Opening Notice.
