Jax Taylor was afraid to leave the rehab facility where he sought treatment for mental health issues earlier this year amid marital problems with his soon-to-be ex Brittany Cartwright.
There, the 45-year-old star of The Valley, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, found solace in the structure of the program.
“I got there, I fucking hated it and… then I loved it,” he said in a clip from his and Cartwright’s Podcast When Reality Hits posted on Instagram.
After Taylor got used to the place, he said he didn’t want to leave. “I was so sad that I was leaving. I was crying, I was like, ‘I don’t want to leave.’”
The former Vanderpump Rules star said he enjoyed the structure provided to him during his rehab.
Jax Taylor, 45, said he was “so scared” to leave rehab, where he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD. “I f***ing hated it and… then I loved it,” he said on his When Reality Hits podcast.
“I knew what I was doing. I was reading, I was in that world,” he explained.
His fear of returning to his real life, because he felt like ‘the world was going to come at him like a ton of bricks’.
“And I had to go back to my show and I know everyone is mad at me and they’re going to come at me. And I was like, ‘I’m so scared, I’m so scared.’ And that’s what happened and I’ve had to deal with it, but it’s scary,” he said.
Elsewhere in the podcast, he discussed his upcoming divorce from Cartwright, 35.
His The Valley co-star filed for divorce on August 27, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Jax and Brittany were married for five years and welcomed son Cruz in 2021.
He joked that he would “make an excellent ex-husband.”
Jax continued, “It’s been a really, really tough week. Anyone who’s been through a breakup will understand how hard it is.”
The former Vanderpump Rules star said he enjoyed the structure of rehab. “I knew what I was doing. I was reading, I was in that world,” he explained, and when he left he felt like “the world was going to hit me like a ton of bricks.”

He said he wants their relationship to be “friendly,” adding that eventually “hopefully” [become] ‘Someday we’ll be really, really good friends.’
Cartwright has requested primary legal and physical custody of the child, but she is open to visitation rights for her ex.
In addition, the Kentucky resident wants to prevent the court from awarding spousal support to either of them.
She named January 24 as the date of their separation.
The former server felt like filing for divorce was “a long time coming,” according to People source who said she knew she “had to file for divorce” “for the best interest of herself and her son.”
The now single mother filed a lawsuit “to move on and end the tumultuous cycle she is living in,” the insider said.
The source added: “A lot has happened in the last few months that she couldn’t get over.”
“This decision was not taken lightly, but she is confident it is the right one,” the insider added.
The couple’s early romance was chronicled on the Bravo series Vanderpump Rules and their failed relationship was chronicled on the spinoff The Valley, in which Cartwright revealed that she had moved out of their marital home with her son Cruz.
“A lot has happened between me and Jax,” Brittany said in a confessional. “We’ve been having problems all summer, but when the cameras stopped rolling, it just seemed like it got worse and worse and worse.
“So about six weeks ago, I broke up with Jax. I moved into an AirBnb with Cruz because Jax wouldn’t leave the house,” she said in the finale.

Brittany said the fact that Jax didn’t leave showed his selfishness. Brittany said she left with their 3-year-old son Cruz because the situation at home was toxic. Brittany said Jax would come home hungover and be “mean as a snake” in the morning.
“I got to a point where I started noticing everything he was doing to me,” Brittany said. “It hit me like a sledgehammer.”
Brittany said during their relationship that Jax cheated on her, disrespected her, and humiliated her.
“I’ve been through a lot of pain in this relationship,” Brittany said. “I just can’t deal with it anymore.”
