With Euro 2024 in sight, many England fans were excited to see the Newcastle winger in action for the Three Lions.

After an incredible season at Toon, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in 35 Premier League games.

After beating off strong competition such as Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford to make the 26-man squad, many expected Gordon to cement a regular place in the starting line-up.

However, he only made one appearance during the competition, as an 89th-minute substitute.

Now Gordon has finally revealed his true feelings about his involvement in Euro 2024. The 23-year-old said he was ‘disappointed’ with his lack of playing time and that manager Gareth Southgate has never given an explanation for his lack of involvement with the team.

Gordan told ITV: “I was disappointed because I believe in myself so much. I feel unstoppable, especially at that point in the season I’ve just had.

‘I felt like no one could defend me, no one could stand me for 90 minutes. I felt like I was ready to really impress people and help the country win the trophy.‌

“To imagine what I imagined… what it was, was disappointing.”

When asked if he pressed Southgate for answers about his lack of playing time or whether the manager had explained why he was not selected more often, Gordon said:

‘Nothing, really. I’ve never really asked. I’m not really that type. I just want to get on with what I have to do.

‘I believe in myself, so even from the bench I thought: ‘If he lets me play, I’m ready and I’m going to change the game.’

“But that didn’t happen.”
