Collingwood Championship winner Nathan Murphy has delivered some very positive news on social media, but the manner in which he did so has also raised eyebrows.
The Collingwood star was forced to retire from football earlier this year after suffering a series of concussions.
The 24-year-old defender made his decision based on the advice of a panel of medical experts.
Murphy suffered his tenth concussion during the Magpies’ final win over Brisbane in what was his last professional game.
In his seven-year career he played in 57 matches
Now that he is retired, he has found a new joy: he has announced that he is going to become a father together with his partner Rose.
However, the photo he chose raised many questions.
Instead of posting a photo of Rose, he posted a photo of himself holding up the ultrasound next to his smiling golden retriever Juno.

However, it is not Juno who is pregnant, but Murphy’s partner Rose who is expecting their child
“Did you get the dog pregnant?” one of his followers asked.
“Wow! It makes sense why Murphy is medically retired. Get this man some help. Dogs are friends, not lovers,” joked another.
“Not legal in most countries,” added another football fan.
“Love is love. Congratulations to both of you,” posted another.
While another fan added: ‘It’s a weird setup, but to each his own right?’
It’s good news for Murphy, who had a great football career ahead of him until he suffered concussions.
“I think this is the right time and the right decision to retire from football,” Murphy said earlier.
‘I love football, but my priority is my future and living a full and healthy life.
‘I would like to thank the club, coaches, teammates, staff and the Magpie Army for all the support throughout my playing career and for giving me the opportunity to fulfil my childhood dream of playing in the AFL.
‘To my family and friends: I could not have made this journey without your continued love and support, for which I am so grateful.
“It does not escape me how happy I am to have been able to experience the success of the championship with this group and club. I hope I have worn the jersey with pride and I thank the many people and supporters who have helped me along the way.

Although there were many jokes made about the photo, there were also many sincere wishes.
“Congrats!! The dog seems super excited about his new owner too,” one follower posted.
‘Wow! The greatest achievement imo. Biggest congratulations to both of you,’ posted another.
‘Congratulations Murph, you made a difference. The Pies couldn’t get a grip on the world this year. You will be sorely missed but I’m glad you’ve found a life outside of football,’ added another.
Although Murphy’s immediate future was uncertain, Collingwood discreetly extended his contract until 2025 last year. Following his decision, the club paid out the remainder of his contract.
