Role Summary
Responsible for operating and maintaining heavy machinery, including graders, excavators, bulldozers,
and related equipment, within our facility or construction site. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our earth moving equipment in line with company policies and procedures. The incumbent will have a strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities:

Equipment Operation:

  • Safely operate a variety of earth-moving equipment, such as graders, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and more.
  • Operate equipment to perform tasks such as excavation, grading, trenching, and material
    handling.
  • Monitor equipment performance, gauges, and controls to ensure proper functioning.

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Perform routine inspections of equipment to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Conduct minor repairs and adjustments to equipment to ensure continuous operation.
  • Report any complex maintenance issues to the maintenance team or supervisor.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure that equipment is in compliance with regulatory standards and environmental requirements.

Efficiency and Productivity:

  • Work efficiently to complete tasks on time and within project specifications.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and project managers to meet project goals.

Qualifications and Skills:

Minimum O-levels with professional driving license class for earthmoving equipment Professional plant operator qualification from a recognized institution

Role Summary
Reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader and working closely with the Workshop Manager the Plant
Mechanic will play a critical role in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a variety of heavy machinery
and equipment used in our operations. The incumbent will possess strong mechanical aptitude,
troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance and Repair:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of heavy equipment, including but not limited to bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and trucks.
  • Conduct repairs, replacements, and adjustments to mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to ensure optimal equipment functionality.
  • Perform routine service tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication to prevent breakdowns.

Troubleshooting:

  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues by using diagnostic tools and equipment manuals.
  • Analyze complex problems, develop solutions, and execute repairs efficiently to minimize downtime.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure that equipment complies with regulatory standards and environmental requirements.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs, including service logs, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
  • Provide detailed reports to the Mechanical Team Leader on equipment condition and repair status.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • O-levels with professional qualification in motor vehicle or plant mechanics e.g. GTT 1, final craft, or Diploma.
  • At least five years experience working in a busy mechanical workshop dealing with plant machinery and equipment and experience on 4-wheel drive vehicles, Heavy commercial vehicles, water pumps and generators will be an advantage.
  • Excellent mechanical skills, team player, good communicator, keen, creative, and capable of working under extreme pressure.
