Drunk passenger disrupts easyJet flight, forcing emergency Munich landing

A passenger reportedly intoxicated attempted to open an exit door during an easyJet flight, as crew members struggled to contain him. Travellers flying from Gatwick to Kos faced an unsettling start to their holiday when a disruptive passenger allegedly caused chaos aboard the flight.

A TikTok video shows families in distress as the inebriated passenger disrupted the EZY8235 flight, Tuesday afternoon. Reports state the individual damaged the inflight intercom and engaged in altercations with cabin crew.

The passenger, allegedly criticising the pilot after encountering turbulence, claimed he would take control of the plane at 30,000 feet. The flight diverted to Munich, where authorities and emergency services awaited the unruly passenger.

Police detained the man, escorting him away in handcuffs, while affected passengers were accommodated in hotels. The video, amassing over half a million views, captures passengers applauding as the authorities removed the disruptive individual.

An irate passenger is seen shouting, “Get off you loser,” at the intoxicated man. The plane’s passengers later applauded a fellow traveller who helped the crew restrain the disruptive individual.

A source described the incident as distressing but praised the cabin crew for their bravery. The UK’s Civil Aviation Authority warns that drunken behaviour on aircraft can lead to fines up to £5,000 and a two-year prison term.

EasyJet has been contacted for comment. A similar incident recently occurred when police escorted a drunk passenger from a flight to Dalaman, which had to return to the gate at Manchester Airport on June 22.

Footage shows Jet2 staff abandoning takeoff as three police officers boarded the plane to remove the allegedly intoxicated man. The passenger, wearing black sunglasses and a neck pillow, initially sat down and responded to an officer asking about cabin bags.

A flight attendant offered to retrieve the bags, but the officer indicated they might be needed. As the police and flight attendant fetched his luggage, the man apologised to the passengers, saying, “Sorry, everyone, sorry.”

However, not all passengers accepted his apology, with one remarking, “You’re not sorry at all mate,” to which the man insisted, “I am sorry, I am.” A woman, seemingly with the man, stood and accompanied him off the plane, which social media reports claim was delayed by 24 hours.
