2nd suspect arrested in theft of sword and bullhorn from Rick Pitino’s office

A second suspect has been arrested for theft a ceremonial sword and megaphone from Hall of Fame basketball coach Rick Pitino’ according to the New York City police.

A 17-year-old was arrested Tuesday on charges of burglary and trespassing in the Aug. 20 theft, police said. It was not clear whether he had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

Emanuel Yakubov, 25, was arrested on August 23, a day after police released surveillance footage showing two men walking through a hallway with the stolen sword and megaphone.

Yabukov was charged with burglary, petty theft, trespassing and possession of stolen property. A request for comment was sent Wednesday to the Legal Aid Society, which represents him.

Pitino, 71, was hired last year by St. John’s hoping to revive a once-legendary Big East program that had its heyday in the 1980s.

During his long career, he served as head coach at Boston University, Providence College, the University of Kentucky, the University of Louisville and Iona University.
