Vice President Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will travel across the country on Labour Day, aiming to win over union workers before the upcoming election, according to the Harris campaign.

Harris will start Labour Day in Detroit, Michigan, meeting union members and making brief remarks. She will be joined by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Rep. Elissa Slotkin, and Rep. Debbie Dingell. Labour leaders, including UAW President Shawn Fain, AFT President Randi Weingarten, and representatives from the Teamsters, AFL-CIO, Building Trades, IATSE, and SEIU, will also be present.

Attendees will include the United Steelworkers, AFSCME, Gov. Josh Shapiro, Sen. Bob Casey, Mayor Ed Gainey, and Reps. Summer Lee, Madeleine Dean, and Chris Deluzio.

Walz and his wife, Gwen, will meet with labourers in St. Paul, Minnesota, before attending Labourfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. SEIU, Teamsters, United Autoworkers, Gov. Tony Evers, Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Rep. Gwen Moore, and Mayor Cavalier Johnson will be present.

Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, will participate in Rep. Bobby Scott’s annual Labour Day Cookout in Newport News, Virginia, where he will deliver remarks.

The Harris campaign highlighted Vice President Harris’s commitment to workers, citing her history of fighting wage theft as California’s attorney general and advocating for vulnerable workers as a senator. They noted her role as Chair of The White House Task Force on Worker Organising, which has facilitated union membership.
