Fellow dinner guest Oisín Heavey explained how Buscemi went unnoticed when the fight broke out.

“Nobody at my table recognised him except me; I’m a huge film buff so I knew him straight away,” Heavey told the Irish Independent. “He was very kind, friendly and engaging.”

Moments after the actor finished eating and left the restaurant, a commotion broke out on the sidewalk outside.

“We saw a crowd gathering and looking up at where he was, so we assumed someone recognized him,” Heavey said, before explaining how the horde of bystanders had effectively surrounded the reportedly brutal brawl.

“Steve Buscemi was standing there completely unnoticed,” the witness said, adding that the 66-year-old made no attempt to break up the fight but instead crept forward to watch a man who had fallen to the ground.

“He was standing over the guy on the ground for a few seconds, and then the fight just stopped itself… He was trying to help, which is more than most people would do,” Heavey said.

After the situation calmed down, Buscemi quickly left the scene, turning a corner at the crossroads where the Dalkey pub is located and heading out into the night.

The actor is currently in Dublin, along with Hollywood colleague Jenna Ortega and director Tim Burton, to film a new season of ‘Wednesday’, a series based on the Addams Family character of the same name.

Saturday’s incident came just months after Buscemi himself was the victim of a violent street attack in New York City.
