Brandon Aiyuk FINALLY reaches massive, multi-year extension with 49ers after contract holdout just one week before start of NFL season

The drama in San Francisco is finally over as wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has reached an agreement to remain with the team.

According to multiple reports, Aiyuk and the 49ers have agreed to a four-year extension that will keep the wideout in the Bay Area for another four years.

Aiyuk’s contract extension totals $120 million, making him the fifth highest-paid wide receiver by average annual value.

It’s a huge reward for Aiyuk, as the wide receiver’s agent Ryan Williams posted a screenshot of a FaceTime call showing the two laughing.

San Francisco has now signed the pass catcher to one of the team’s two contracts worth at least $30 million — with the other contract belonging to pass rusher Nick Bosa.

The Aiyuk saga has lasted most of the offseason, with the first day of the NFL regular season just a week away.

Aiyuk had been holding off on training camp for weeks to make the talks possible, even publicly requesting to be traded.

Other chapters in that saga include a tweet to Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

He also posted photos with Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, with whom he was teammates at Arizona State University.

Among them were snapshots of a FaceTime call in which Aiyuk said, “They don’t want me back.”

Aiyuk was reportedly nearly traded several times, but now the matter has been resolved and he will remain with the Niners.

THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY. MORE TO COME.
