The Authority revealed that this exercise would last for 45 days, starting from Saturday, August 31 until Tuesday, October 15.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) on Thursday, August 29 alerted motorists regarding temporary traffic disruption at the Haile Selassie roundabout on Uhuru Highway A8 Road in Nairobi.
In a notice to motorists, the Authority revealed that this exercise would last for 45 days, starting from Saturday, August 31 until Tuesday, October 15.
KeNHA attributed this to the planned construction of a pedestrian underpass at the section.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption at Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway A8 Road,” the authority announced.
“This traffic disruption is due to scheduled road works for the construction of a pedestrian underpass at the section which will commence from Saturday, August 31, 2024, to Tuesday, October 15, 2024.”
KeNHA advised motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on-site.
The agency further listed alternative routes motorists can use, in a bid to avert massive delays; drivers using the Upper Hill- Mombasa Road- Waiyaki Way stretch were directed to divert to Green Park.
Similarly, motorists plying the Waiyaki Way- Mombasa Road route were directed to use the diversion at Rubis Petrol Station.
Meanwhile, vehicles from the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) were advised to use the diversion at Ring Road located behind the Neno Evangelism Church.
However, the Authority noted that motorists travelling from Nairobi CBD and heading to Upper Hill would not be disrupted by the road works.
On June 14, KeNHA announced the temporary closure of Uhuru Highway for 10 days, a move that was planned to affect the highway section between the University of Nairobi Roundabout and the Nairobi Expressway Exit or Museum Hill Exit along the carriageway linking the cities of Mombasa, Nairobi and Nakuru.
This closure, the authority revealed, was to allow for highway maintenance works at the section.
All motorists intending to use the Uhuru Highway (A8) Nakuru bound section were thus urged to use alternative routes. They included roads such as Nyerere Road, Arboretum Drive, Riverside Drive, and Ring Road Kileleshwa.
“Motorists using this road section are further advised to approach the affected section with caution.
“Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as shall be directed by Police and Traffic Marshalls on site,” KeNHA stated then.
