The bustling capital Nairobi is set to experience a mother of all blackouts unlike others in recent days – according to an outage notice issued by Kenya Power.
The planned blackout is expected to affect a majority of the city, with the utility provider warning of widespread disruptions that will last for eight hours on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
The areas in Nairobi county to be affected by the planned outage include:
1. Kibagare way
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Places affected: Kibagare Way, Nairobi Sch, Kibagare Slums 8, adjacent customers.
2. Kibiku
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Places affected: Eastern Bypass, China Rd, Gesora Rd, Corradin Ests, Mihango SDA, Karagita, Kenya Builders Quarry, Shamji Ramji Quarry, Maono Prayer Center, ESRD Est, Buruburu Farmers & adjacent customers.
3. Sewage
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Places affected: Githunguri, Corner ABCD, BMI Plaza, Pedesta, Crown, Birna Court, National Oil, Embakasi Ranching, Muhuri Muchiri Sec, Parts of Eastern Bypass, Rubis Petrol Stn, Gatuoro, Sewage Plant, Kamnyonge, Kwa Ruto & adjacent customers.
4. Joska
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Additionally, Kenya Power announced that the planned outage will also affect two other counties – Kisii and Kilifi.
