Scientist claims discovery of MH370’s perfect hiding place

A scientist has claimed to have identified the ‘perfect hiding place’ for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. Over a decade ago, the Malaysia Airlines aircraft mysteriously disappeared after departing from Kuala Lumpur on 8 March 2014. The flight had 239 people on board, including 227 passengers and 12 crew members.

Funerals were held for those on flight MH370, and despite search parties finding debris believed to be from the crash, the plane itself remains missing. While various theories about MH370’s fate and location have circulated for years, a researcher now asserts he knows where the plane is. Australian scientist Vincent Lyne has authored a research paper titled “Final Two Communications from MH370 Suggests Controlled Eastward Descent,” which has been accepted by the Journal of Navigation.

On LinkedIn, Lyne celebrated the upcoming publication, stating that his findings indicate the plane was deliberately brought down. He wrote, “This work changes the narrative of MH370’s disappearance from one of no-blame, fuel-starvation at the 7th arc, high-speed drive, to a mastermind pilot almost executing an incredible perfect-disappearance in the Southern Indian Ocean.”

Lyne attributes the discovery of the plane’s location to its wing striking a wave and the regular satellite communications detected by Inmarsat. He compared the controlled ditching to Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger’s emergency landing on the Hudson River in 2009. Lyne also supported the claim made by ex-Chief Canadian Air-crash Investigator Larry Vance, who suggested that MH370 had fuel and running engines during a ‘controlled ditching,’ not a high-speed crash.

Lyne pinpointed the plane’s location using the longitude of Penang airport, intersecting with the Pilot-in-Command home simulator track dismissed by the FBI. He described the area, at the eastern end of the Broken Ridge, as a dangerous ocean environment with steep sides and massive ridges, making it an ideal hiding place filled with fine sediments.

Lyne emphasised the need to verify this location as a high priority. He noted that whether it will be searched depends on officials and search companies. He concluded by stating that science clearly indicates why previous searches failed and points unmistakably to MH370’s location.

Lyne is associated with the University of Tasmania’s Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies.

Here are some common questions asked about this news

What did Vincent Lyne claim about MH370?

Lyne claimed that MH370 underwent a controlled ditching in the Southern Indian Ocean.

Where does Lyne believe MH370 is located?

Lyne believes MH370 is in a deep 6000 m hole at the eastern end of the Broken Ridge.

What was the cause of MH370’s disappearance according to Lyne?

Lyne suggests the plane was deliberately crashed by its pilot in a controlled ditching.

What new evidence supports Lyne’s claim about MH370?

Lyne’s paper suggests the plane’s wings, flap, and flaperon damage indicate a controlled ditching.
