The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of Uhuru Highway for 10 days, starting tonight (Friday, June 14).

In a statement, KeNHA revealed that the partial closure of the major road will affect the highway section between the University of Nairobi Roundabout and the Nairobi Expressway Exit or Museum Hill Exit along the carriageway linking the cities of Mombasa, Nairobi and Nakuru.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to inform the public that there will be a temporary closure of Uhuru Highway (A8) between the University of Nairobi Roundabout and Nairobi Expressway Exit (Museum Hill Exit) along the Nakuru bound carriageway from Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:00 pm to Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 11:00 pm,” stated KeNHA in part.

This closure, the authority revealed, is to allow for highway maintenance works at the section.

All motorists intending to use Uhuru Highway (A8) Nakuru bound section will thus have to use alternative routes.

They include roads such as Nyerere Road, Arboretum Drive, Riverside Drive, and Ring Road Kileleshwa.

“Motorists using this road section are further advised to approach the affected section with caution.

“Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as shall be directed by Police and Traffic Marshalls on site,” added the statement.

KeNHA reiterated its commitment to ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage for economic prosperity.

Three days ago, the authority announced that a section of Mombasa Road near Katani Junction would experience traffic disruption along the Mombasa-bound lanes from June 13 to June 16, 2024.

KeNHA attributed this traffic interruption to the construction of the mid-span footbridge foundation along the bustling highway.
