Fans at Ed Sheeran’s recent stadium performance in Romania were treated to an unexpected and all-star line-up when Chris Hemsworth took to the stage.
The Thor actor, who is better known for his hammer than his drumsticks, surprised the crowd when he drummed alongside Sheeran for 70,000 ecstatic fans.
The surprise collaboration came about after Hemsworth reached out to Sheeran in December last year.
The Australian actor, who was working on a documentary about cognitive health and the benefits of learning to play an instrument, decided to take on the challenge himself and learn to play the drums.
As part of his trip, Hemsworth visited the British singer for some personal drum lessons and the results on stage were nothing short of spectacular.
On Sunday, Ed shared video footage of the incredible moment on Instagram.
In the video, the singer explains: ‘We’re here in Bucharest and basically what happens is that Chris emailed me last December saying he was making a documentary about cognitive health and the benefits of learning to play an instrument.
‘He came to visit me and learned to play the drums. And now Cindy is on stage in front of 70,000 people.’

The crowd erupted in applause and cheers as Hemsworth played with Sheeran’s band during the performance.
Clearly proud of his friend’s musical debut, Sheeran cheered on the crowd, urging them to “Make some noise for Chris Hemsworth! Give him a big round of applause, guys! You did a really good job.”
Hemsworth’s drumming skills were rewarded with a special ‘Participation Award’, presented to him in a humorous manner by Sheeran’s crew.
The award, named the “Participation Award for Excellence in Drumming,” was a playful nod to the actor’s efforts and dedication to learning a new skill.
The actor’s surprise appearance at the concert has since gone viral, with fans flooding social media with praise for both Hemsworth’s drumming and Sheeran’s generous attitude to sharing the stage.
