Netflix fans go wild over drama series with 2000s sitcom star… but warn ‘you better bring your tissues’

Netflix fans are thrilled to have a drama series starring a 2000s sitcom star, but have warned first-time viewers that they may need some “tissues.”

Based on the novel of the same name, Firefly Lane tells the story of two teenage girls in the 1970s, following them into adulthood in the mid-2000s.

Users reacted to the series in the Facebook group Netflix Bangers, which has more than 3.2 million members. They were very positive about the series, but also warned new viewers about some disturbing scenes.

They wrote: ‘It’s brilliant, it’s beautiful, it’s sad. You’ll regret watching it, but you’ll be so glad you did.’

Another wrote: ‘So good I’ve never cried so much during the last few episodes of a series’.

Someone said: ‘One of the best! Too bad I finished it’.

Another wrote: ‘Beautiful show but the ending was so heartbreaking’.

In the series, Kate Mularkey and Tallulah “Tully” Hart become friends in Seattle after becoming neighbors on a street called Firefly Lane at the ages of 14.

Katherine Heigl plays Tully, while Kate is played by Sarah Chalke, who rose to fame and popularity for her portrayal of Elliot Reed-Dorian in Scrubs.

Also appearing in the series are Ben Lawson as Johnny Ryan, Kate’s ex-husband, and Beau Garrett as Cloud, Tully’s free-spirited mother with a troubled drug addiction.

Fans were quick to point out how sad the series was due to the emotional ending of the series, in which Kate dies from a rare form of breast cancer.

The finale takes place during Kate’s funeral, 10 years later, which Tully almost decides to miss because she is so sad.

However, Johnny gives her a box that Kate has prepared for her, containing her book and an iPod with their favorite songs, which gives her the courage to go to the church service.
