Police officer among two arrested with ivory

A police officer was among four suspects arrested for robbery in Molo Town on Thursday, August 21, 2024.

Addressing the media after the arrests, Molo Sub-County police commander Timon Odingo stated that the officer, based at the Nakuru Central Police Station, was arrested alongside his accomplice after they were caught ferrying ivory stolen from the Nakuru County Commissioner’s office using a motorbike.

This followed a followed a tip-off from members of the public who noted that they had detected suspicious activity.

10 kilograms of ivory, a gun, and 30 rounds of a********n were recovered by police during the arrest of the two.

Loosely translates to;

“When we arrived at Posta, members of the public informed us that the two seemed suspicious as they were ferrying two bags on their motorbikes, our officers immediately followed them and upon interrogation we found them with bags carrying the ivory weighing about 10 kiograms.”

The police commander has confirmed that investigations have been launched and the suspects will be held accountable if found g****y.

The two other suspects were arrested over a robbery incident within the town. The four are currently cooling their heels in police custody.
