Two Kitengela families are desperately searching for their three missing kin.
The missing trio includes two brothers, Longton Jamil (42) and Aslam Longton (36) who were reported missing on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 1:30 pm, a few metres from their home.
The Longton family now says Jamil, who is a human rights defender, was not involved in organising nor participated in anti-government protests.
According to his brother Razak Longton, the family’s efforts to search for his brothers in various police stations have been futile, leaving the family in distress.
“We are worried as a family because since Monday we have been moving from one police station to another to enquire about the whereabouts of our kin, but we are yet to trace them,” Razak said.
According to Salwa Mohammed, the wife of Jamil, the two had lunch together in their home before heading to Isinya.
“My husband was in a jovial mood and had not expressed any fear whatsoever. As a family, we are worried and confused. We call on the government to help us know where my husband is,” Salwa appealed.
Bob Njagi (47) who is also the chairperson of the Free Kenya movement went missing on the same day.
“We are saddened by the manner in which p****e are being abducted by persons claiming to be police officers. If government officers mandated to ensure the safety of Kenyans do not know where missing p****e are, how safe are we?
“The rule of the law in our country is clear; if anyone has committed any offence, they should be arrested and charged according to the law,” Charles Swakei, a friend of Njagi, said.
Families of the trio are now calling on concerned agencies to reveal the whereabouts of their missing kin who have been out of reach since their mobile phones were switched off.
The incidents have been reported at Kitengela Police Station.
The populous Kitengela town has been among the areas that have witnessed active, chaotic, and b****y anti-government protests.
Several protesters have lost their lives, and scores were injured during the protest melee.
