Sonko’s helping hand

On May 23, 2024, the businessman reiterated his support for Kimani and Omollo, who were battling mental health issues in their recovery journey.

He further disclosed his plan to transfer both journalists from Mathare to the Mombasa Women Rehabilitation Center, stating that a change of environment would aid in their recovery process.

“As promised during my interview at Oga Obbina’s show about the issue of former journalists Kimani Mbugua (Citizen TV) and Eunice Omollo (NTV), who’ve been battling mental illnesses, I visited Mathare Hospital in the company of Oga Obbina and Kimani Mbugua’s family to check on their recovery progress.

“We were warmly welcomed by a team of doctors managing them who briefed us on their progress. However, Eunice Omollo was under medication at the female ward when we visited, and I only had a chance to interact with Kimani Mbugua. We had great moments together with Kimani Mbugua, bringing up memories of past interviews and a broad discussion of his current struggle,” Sonko said.

“So hata kama will transfer them to Mombasa; it will just be for purposes of changing the environment, which can also greatly contribute to the recovery of a patient, and that’s why I decided together with the family to transfer them to the Mombasa women’s rehabilitation centre where Conjestina Achieng is also rehabilitated, tuone kama watachange for good.”
