Jennifer Lopez ‘will keep $5M green diamond engagement ring’ from Ben Affleck amid divorce – as her wedding ring collection is now at $17M

Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck. Now what will she do with her $5.6 million “lucky” green engagement ring?

Given her past, it’s likely this ring will add to her already impressive collection of five engagement rings, bringing its value to over $17 million.

After all, she still has the pink rock Ben gave her 20 years ago, as well as rings from her ex-husbands Marc Anthony, Cris Judd and Ojani Noa. And she has her engagement ring from Alex Rodriguez, whom she never married.

But her most expensive piece of jewelry is still Anthony’s blue diamond ring, worth $6.5 million.

Laura Taylor, engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, told DailyMail.com: ‘Jennifer Lopez has amassed a remarkable collection of engagement rings over the years, each representing a different chapter in her life.

‘In the United States, engagement rings are typically considered gifts, meaning J.Lo has the legal right to keep the ring after the divorce, unless otherwise agreed to in a prenup.

Since J.Lo and Ben Affleck didn’t have a prenuptial agreement, the engagement ring, a stunning 8.5-carat green cushion-cut diamond, will likely be added to her collection.

‘With the addition of Ben Affleck’s green engagement ring, J.Lo’s engagement ring collection is now worth an estimated $17 million.

“The most expensive ring she has kept is Anthony’s blue diamond ring, which she described in a 2021 interview as her most cherished piece of jewelry, even more so than the pink diamond Ben gave her during their first engagement,” she added.

‘While her latest engagement ring is certainly beautiful, I suspect Anthony’s engagement ring will still take first place for her.

“She was married to Marc for 10 years and they have two children from that marriage. So I think it’s much more sentimental for her. Plus, it’s the most expensive in her collection because of the size, the quality and the fact that it’s one of the rarest colored diamonds in the world, just a little bit rarer than green diamonds.”

Taylor, engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, shares details and valuations of each of the six rings in J.Lo’s collection.

‘The first engagement ring J.Lo got was from Ojani Noa in 1997. It was a 3.5-carat marquise-cut diamond on a yellow gold band, simple yet elegant, and today it’s worth around $130,000.’

Given its history, it's likely this ring will add to her already impressive collection of five engagement rings, bringing its value to over $17 million.

‘Cris Judd proposed in 2001 with an emerald-cut diamond set on a platinum band with diamond pavé, and is worth approximately $200,000.’

And then there’s the pink ring.

‘Ben Affleck’s first proposal in 2002 made headlines with a 6-carat pink radiant-cut diamond flanked by two white trapezoid-cut diamonds, set on a platinum band.

‘This iconic ring is worth approximately $2.6 million and is one of the most famous colored diamond engagement rings in the world.’

‘The most expensive and rare ring in J.Lo’s collection, a stunning 8.5-carat blue radiant-cut diamond flanked by trapezoid-cut diamonds on a platinum band, was given to her by Marc Anthony and is now worth $6.5 million.

‘Despite the fact that she’s received more rings since then, this remains J.Lo’s most cherished piece of jewelry.’

‘Alex Rodriguez’s 2019 proposal included a massive 15-carat emerald-cut diamond on a platinum band. This bold and impressive ring is worth approximately $2 million.’

‘Ben Affleck proposed to J.Lo for the second time with an 8.5-carat green cushion-cut diamond flanked by trapezoid diamonds and set on a platinum band. The ring is worth approximately $5.6 million thanks to the rarity of natural green diamonds, which also happens to be J.Lo’s lucky color.’

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on Tuesday.

The superstar was engaged to Hollywood actor Ben, 52, in the early 2000s but split after that. Although the couple reconciled in 2021, they split again after two years of marriage.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the Jenny From the Block singer filed legal papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court without an attorney.

The divorce date is listed as April 26, 2024, but the day J. Lo filed for divorce is actually the second anniversary of the second ceremony they held in Georgia, following their first wedding ceremony in Las Vegas just two months earlier.

According to TMZ, the “Waiting For Tonight” singer does not mention in her filings whether there is a prenuptial agreement, although sources have told TMZ that there is no prenuptial agreement at all.

Rumors have been swirling for a while that the couple have split, but Jennifer – who has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony and is stepmother to Ben and Jennifer Garner’s children Violet (18), Seraphina (15) and Samuel (12) – has remained silent about their alleged split. Just a few months ago, she insisted that there was “real, true love” between the two.

She told the Metro newspaper: “I wrote ‘This Is Me… Then’ when Ben and I fell in love 20 years ago. Fate would have it that we came back into each other’s lives. And on the 20th anniversary of ‘This Is Me… Then’, I announced that I was doing ‘This Is Me… Now’. It was inspired by the surreal miracle that had happened.

“Him coming back into my life and us being reunited in a way that we never expected was the inspiration to even get in the studio. The album just poured out of me.

“It was just something organic and beautiful, but it was definitely inspired by getting an incredible second chance at real, true love.”
