Award winning songstress Nikita Kering has set the record straight about her rumored relationship with rapper Lil Maina. The two have been seen together a lot lately, which has led to a lot of speculation.
Their first big public moment was at Omah Lay’s concert in 2021. Nikita surprised fans by bringing Lil Maina on stage.
She also brought him to stage during her performance at the Blankets & Wine event last month. But despite these appearances, Nikita insists they are just friends.
In a recent interview with Nairobi News, Nikita said, “Right now, I am single and focusing on my music. There are still things I want to achieve before considering dating.”
Lil Maina echoed this sentiment. He described their relationship as purely platonic and confirmed they are working on a new track together.
Nikita shared, “We have been working on some music together, and I hope it will be one of the first tracks to drop from my EP. We wanted to collaborate for a while, but the timing was never right. Now, we found a song that suits us both. I am not setting a release date yet, but it should be out soon.”

At just 22, Nikita has also been reflecting on the pressures of fame. She said it is important to stay focused and not get sidetracked.
“It is crucial to remember why you started. And it is easy to get caught up in chasing money, attention, or clout, but you have to stay grounded. Not everyone wins at the same time, and that is okay,” she advised.
“If everyone won at the same time, winning would not feel as special. Keep honing your craft and improving every day,”
Regarding social media drama, Nikita keeps it simple. “I just mind my own business. I’m here strictly for the music, not the drama, so I don’t even need to remind myself to avoid it. I’m simply not interested. My focus is on my music and art, and that’s what I care about sharing with the world,” she said.
