Usher reveals why he was forced to postpone tour performances in Atlanta and shares expected return date

Usher revealed on Instagram on Thursday why he had to postpone his tour performances.

The 45-year-old singer announced in a post on Instagram to his approximately 13.1 million followers that he had suffered a neck injury during a rehearsal earlier this week.

The Nice & Slow singer said he hoped that physical therapy and medical treatment would allow him to return to the stage, but unfortunately his injury has not yet healed.

Usher said doctors have advised him to cancel his scheduled performances this week, but that he should be ready for his August 20 concert in Washington, D.C.

The three shows scheduled for this week in Atlanta have been postponed until December at State Farm Arena.

Usher posted a post earlier this week heartfelt message on Instagram about canceling the first show for his Past Present Future tour.

He wrote that he needed to “give my body time to rest and heal,” without revealing the specific nature of his ailment.

“In my career spanning over 30 years, I have put 100% of my blood, sweat and tears into delivering the best performance and creating an unforgettable experience for my fans,” he began.

“I plan to do the same for this tour. Therefore, I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date so my body can rest and recover.”

He continued: ‘You’ll still get a little bit of the past, a little bit of the present and a unique glimpse into the future on the new date, but you’ll also get to see 100% of me.

“The last thing I want to do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly awaiting the start of this tour. But I wouldn’t be the entertainer I am if I couldn’t physically give you the best of myself.”

Usher indicated that attendees will receive more information about tickets and the new tour date soon.

“I can’t wait to celebrate this legacy with you,” he concluded.

DailyMail.com has contacted Usher’s representatives for comment.

It appears that Usher decided to postpone the event at the last minute.

On Monday he posted on social media, “ATL, I’m coming home. Night 1 of #PPF is in 2 days,” and as of Tuesday night, tickets and parking information for Wednesday’s show were still being sent out.
