£5,000 reward offered for capture of suspect with face tattoo

A £5,000 reward has been announced as authorities search for a suspect with a prominent face tattoo who escaped from a Suffolk hospital. Daryl Taylor, from Ipswich, fled during a hospital visit after being detained for alleged child sexual offences.

Crimestoppers, an independent charity, is offering up to £5,000 for information leading to the capture of the 33-year-old. Anyone who spots him should avoid approaching him and instead contact the police or Crimestoppers at 0800 555111 to remain anonymous. To claim the reward, information must be given directly to Crimestoppers, not the police.

Taylor has connections to Ipswich and the Chantry and Hollesley areas of Suffolk.

On Sunday, 11 August 2024, Taylor was charged with seven child sexual offences. He escaped from Ipswich Hospital around 10pm on the same day, where he was taken for treatment.

Taylor was initially arrested on 10 August for breaching his licence terms and being wanted on recall to prison. He had been sentenced to three years in prison on 27 July of the previous year for assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice, according to Suffolk Police.

Described as white, approximately 5ft 9in tall, with a stocky build, short brown hair, and a beard, Taylor has distinctive tattoos on his face, neck, arms, and legs. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a black and grey North Face jumper, matching jogging bottoms, and black Adidas sliders. Police previously mentioned he might have been wearing a white t-shirt with a black cross on the back, grey shorts, and white socks underneath these clothes.

Superintendent Andy Martin of Suffolk Police assured the public that capturing Taylor remains a priority. He acknowledged public concerns but conveyed that Taylor appears more interested in evading capture than committing further crimes.

Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers or Suffolk Police on 999, quoting reference 45508/24. Crimestoppers can be reached 24/7 via their website or by phone at 0800 555 111. To claim a reward, request a reward code when providing information.
