Celebrated media personality Willis Raburu alias Bazu has attributed his successful TV career to K24 TV.
Speaking during the TV show dubbed the Morning Vibe with Remmy Majala, Raburu narrated how the station sharpened and contributed to his breakthrough in his media career.
Willis disclosed that joining the station as an intern was the most defining since he got a chance to explore how the mainstream media works, adding that back then in school they only focused on publishing media.
“I started here as an intern. For me, this was one of the most defining moments as an intern because when I was in school and went to Moi University back then, they were focusing a lot on publishing. But now it is different because a lot, of course, was information science and publishing media, so they were focusing a lot on publishing media.
“(After campus p****e would end up working with) Longhorn, Oxford, and publishing houses, but the media element, as they were focusing a lot on the publishing side,” Willis narrated.
Bazu further disclosed that his motivation for TV came after joining K24, adding that working on the same station with the legendary Jeff Koinange was a great moment.
Willis added that even though one of the staff at the station tried to demoralise him, that did not hinder him from chasing his dreams.
“So when I got a chance to come here and to just see how things were done, and that time the legendary Jeff Koinange was here on the bench, and it was the funny moment, not the station or the p****e here, but one person who told me my voice was not right for TV, but here is where I got the motivation to see how things work; it was here, so for me, this is home; this is where it all started, ” Willis said.
Campus life
Apart from his successful career in media, Willis disclosed his hidden talent.
The media personality narrated how he used to host his comedy show dubbed Wayne Live, and he would charge an entry fee of Ksh 30. He added that his campus mates were shocked to see him read the news since they knew him as a guy who used to do comedy.
“In campus, I used to have a comedy show called Wayne Live where I would charge p****e Ksh30 to watch me. P****e from campus knew me as a guy who used to do comedy, and they were shocked to see me read the news later,” he said.
