Robert Irwin moves fans to tears with his uncanny resemblance to dad Steve as he goes on a crocodile expedition in Queensland

Robert Irwin has moved people to tears because of his resemblance to his late father, Steve Irwin.

The 20-year-old media personality and son of the late Crocodile Hunter is currently on a crocodile hunt in far north Queensland.

“We are on the boat looking for crocodile tracks,” Irwin said on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday.

After attempting to film myself struggling to start the boat’s engine a few times, the ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Outta Here’ presenter admitted he had lost.

“I’m going to go back to the beginning now so it looks like we got it right the first time,” he joked.

The boat departed and Robert told of his determined journey to find crocodiles.

The video, which was shared with the conservationist’s 6 million followers, struck a chord with his fans.

‘Never reminded me more of your father than in this video!’ was one comment that got hundreds of likes. ‘Very cool to see this.’

“Just like your dad! I could watch and listen to him say ‘OK’ all day long,” said another.

‘Seriously, these videos make me cry. They remind me so much of Steve,’ said another. ‘I’m so thankful Robert looks like him.’

Robert was only four when he started acting in his family’s documentaries and at age twelve he landed a role in the Spongebob Movie.

He is widely regarded as the living continuation of The Crocodile Hunter’s legacy.

Steve Irwin may have been the world’s most famous Australian of the past 30 years, but his fame has always been at the service of his passion for wildlife.

“He’s not here to spread his message anymore,” Robert told GQ Australia in December when accepting the Social Force of the Year Award. “Now it’s my job.”

On TikTok and Instagram, where Robert has a combined 11 million followers, he has shown himself to be a natural in front of the camera, showing his genuine nature when interacting with animals.

Although his profile has increased since he was nominated for a Gold Logie this year, after making his first primetime appearance opposite Julia Morris on the 2024 season of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Australia.
