Olympics star Alysha Newman says her OnlyFans page CRASHED after she twerked in Paris

Olympian Alysha Newman left the Paris Games with a bronze medal, and her bank account and social media following also received a major boost.

The Canadian pole vaulter, who ran an OnlyFans page before the Tokyo Games, went viral last week when she celebrated her new Canadian record jump with an impromptu twerk celebration.

That moment briefly caused her site to crash on the platform, she told Mail Sport, and she and her team spoke to OnlyFans software engineers to resolve the issue.

Newman added that she has gained 20,000 new subscribers to the platform since the Games began (and counting).

The website is used by many to post nude photos (Newman hinted in a recent post at “access to my naughtiest content”), but the 30-year-old says she also uses the site to “connect with fans” and give them an insight into her life as an elite athlete.

There is always a [stigma] “I’m very confident, and I know that very well,” she said. “But I’m so confident in the company and the direction it’s going.”

Regardless of opinions about Newman’s page, the financial results speak volumes.

She currently charges $7.79 for a subscription (she normally charges $12.99), which means she’s made at least $155,800 from just her new subscribers (OnlyFans creators keep 80 percent of the revenue).

She estimates she’s amassed 200,000 followers on Instagram since the start of the Olympics, and her OnlyFans income covers much of the costs associated with life as an elite athlete.

Newman said she pays about $500-$800 a week for chiropractic treatments and massages, has her home equipped with a sauna and hyperbaric chamber, and has her blood tested every three months to monitor things like iron and hydration levels.

Those expenses paid off in Paris.

“The knowledge I have been able to gain from my financial winnings with just fans and my other sponsors has only helped me more than ever to get this bronze medal,” she said.

Newman was also able to pay for her coach (whom she calls her “best friend”) to travel to Paris and has now started investing in cryptocurrencies and real estate, including setting up AirBnBs to rent out.

Her OnlyFans presence came about in a somewhat ironic way.

While thousands of fans filled the Stade de France during her pole vault practice this summer and thousands of people now pay for her online content, she says it was the void of the COVID-hit Tokyo Olympics that encouraged her to get involved with the site.

‘I originally started it because I thought, “I need your energy, get me excited about going to the Olympics.”‘

That idea has now grown so much that she dreams of funding a new high-performance athletics centre in Canada.

The country’s government gives her only a small stipend for her sport, she says, and she’s not the only Olympian using OnlyFans to support herself.

But she is also aware of the connotation the place has in certain corners.

Newman acknowledged that some of her sponsors were initially skeptical about her joining the platform and admitted that she might not post racy content if she had a salary as high as that of the NBA or NFL.

Still, she praises the site for giving her the opportunity to be her “authentic self,” and she has no plans to leave the site anytime soon.

“My mom and parents have pretty thick skin around me,” she said.

She later added: ‘I think we’ll have a conversation in a few years and you’ll say, ‘Weren’t you the smartest person ever?’

Newman is still “over the moon” after winning her first Olympic medal and hopes to win another in 2028.

But of course there is another reason to qualify for LA.

“It’s just a great hub for social media,” she said.
