A woman underwent the world’s first injectable breast implant procedure, going from a small B cup size to a C in 15 minutes.
Erin Alexander and plastic surgeon Dr Adrian Richards of iQonic Aesthetics in London, one of the first doctors in the UK to offer the procedure, were guests of Josie Gibson and Rylan Clark on Tuesday’s This Morning.
The mother, who had the procedure 13 days earlier, claimed she was walking again the next day and doing light exercise a few days later.
She said: ‘The downtime is pretty minimal. I’ve gone from a small B to a C or D, obviously they’re still settling so I’m not entirely sure about the size yet but I definitely see a fullness that I’ve never had before.’
Dr. Richards demonstrated how it’s done, saying, “Erin would now be completely anesthetized. I would make a little incision just behind her cock, and then we’re going to make a little tunnel through it, and the next step is we’re going to have to blow up this balloon.

‘Then we leave it in for a bit so that everything around it relaxes, then you deflate it, take it out and the implant, which is diamond-shaped, is already in there. This is the first ever injectable implant and the UK is leading the way.’
Traditional breast implant surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. During the surgery, an incision is made under the breast to position the implant, between the breast tissue and the pectoral muscle.
It can take several weeks for the patient to fully recover from traditional surgery. Patients are advised to take two weeks off work and there will be scars under the breasts.
Erin said the thought of scarring deterred her from opting for a traditional breast implant.
She said: ‘I never wanted to feel like I had anything done, the scars were a big disadvantage for me, the recovery time, and when I heard about Mia [minimal invasive augmentation]the minimal recovery time and the fact that there were no scars left on the breast tissue at all met all those requirements.’
Mia implants offer a new alternative to traditional breast augmentation with minimal recovery time and a natural-looking result.
Erin added: ‘I didn’t want to look unnatural, I just wanted to be myself and I wanted the body I always wanted. I was always quite small and I never felt like I was proportionate, but now I have the breasts I always wanted.’

Erin told me how easy the procedure was and that the whole process took about 45 minutes. She kept ‘chatting’ the whole time.
She said: ‘During the procedure itself I was awake and could chat about it. The insertion took no longer than 15 minutes.’
According to Dr. Richards, the downside to the procedure is that you can only go up one or two sizes because the implants are so small and the cost is comparable to traditional implants.
Reconstructive and cosmetic surgeon Dr Paul Banwell previously told Harper’s Bazaar that ‘Mia Femtech offers a number of benefits to the patient’.
He said: ‘A shorter treatment time, no need for general anaesthesia, very little post-operative pain and only a small, hidden scar in the armpit’.
This is due to the biocompatible implant itself, but also to the ‘revolutionary local anesthetic technique’ used to insert the implant.
He added: ‘For me, this procedure represents a new paradigm in breast aesthetics.’
