Text messages from one of the 62 passengers who died in a plane crash in Brazil have revealed the terrifying conditions onboard. On Friday, 9 August, a Voe Pass plane travelling from Cascavel in Parana to Guarulhos in Sao Paulo tragically crashed.
The Brazilian Air Force reported that the aircraft was flying normally at 1:20 pm but lost contact with air traffic control a minute later. A mother of one of the passengers shared messages she received from her daughter during the flight with Brazilian network TV Globo.
Rosemeire Xavier, the mother, shared a message from her 23-year-old daughter Rosana Xavier, sent at 11:47 am, saying, “Man, two hours of flight. We’re going to arrive in the rain. I am so scared of this flight.”

Rosana added, “I swear, the plane is old,” and a minute later wrote, “There is a broken seat. I swear. Chaos.” She also sent a selfie looking poker-faced.
Rosana’s mother asked her to read a Bible verse to calm down but admitted she was also getting worried after the messages. She recalled hearing about the crash on the news, saying, “I was in despair. I started running around the house screaming.”
First responders recovered the bodies of all 34 male passengers and 28 female passengers the day after the crash.
As of Monday, 12 August, only 17 victims had been identified, including the pilot Danilo Romano and co-pilot Humberto de Silva.
In an initial statement by the airline on Friday, they confirmed the aircraft had 58 passengers and four crew members. VOEPASS stated they are supporting those involved and providing information via a 24-hour telephone line.
