Powers mentioned that a representative from the US Secret Service contacted her to apologise, although the agency has not confirmed whether one of its agents was responsible.
A US Secret Service spokesperson, Melissa McKenzie, stated that the agency cooperates closely with business communities to execute its protective and investigative duties. McKenzie emphasised that the Secret Service values these relationships and would not enter a business without the owner’s consent.
Vice President Harris’ event took place at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield on 27 July, adjacent to Powers’ salon.

Capt. Matthew Hill of the Pittsfield Police Department stated that his department was not involved in the incident. He added that upon learning about the occurrence, Chief Dawley of the PPD immediately contacted the relevant agencies and personally reached out to Powers, who praised the police department’s handling of the situation.
Hill noted that the only footage the department has seen are the same two videos circulating on social media.
