Summer horror as woman, 46, is ‘raped at knifepoint by two migrants next to famed beach boardwalk after they socked her boyfriend’

Last weekend, a woman was raped at knifepoint by two suspected migrants on Coney Island Boardwalk in New York.

The unprovoked attack is believed to have taken place Sunday night around 9 p.m. in front of a hotel housing asylum seekers. Since then, 24-year-old Nicaraguan migrant David Davon-Bonilla and 37-year-old Mexican Leovando Moreno have been arrested.

The victim, a 46-year-old woman from outside the city, was with her boyfriend when the attack occurred near the famous sidewalk, police said. The crime occurred at Surf Avenue and 16th Street.

Moreno allegedly struck the 34-year-old man with an unknown object during the chaos as he tried to save his significant other. Also unknown, he refused medical attention at the scene, officers said.

The woman was allegedly assaulted by Davon-Bonilla, who is charged with first-degree rape, second-degree assault, first-degree sexual abuse, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

Moreno was charged with second-degree assault and weapons possession after fighting off the man as the rape occurred.

Davon-Bonilla was identified as a Nicaraguan migrant by law enforcement sources who spoke with him. The New York Postafter police confirmed he had previously been arrested for sexual assault after allegedly attacking a 34-year-old woman in Brooklyn last year.

Sources told the Post he once lived at a La Quinta Hotel on Third Avenue, which had also been converted into a migrant shelter due to the influx of new arrivals.

That was also the case at the hotel near the crime scene, which is just a stone’s throw from the Brooklyn Cyclones Ballpark and the very first location of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs.

The street is therefore often busy with both locals and tourists. Both men were arrested shortly after they parted ways, still near the boulevard.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the NYPD for more information as both men are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Sources familiar with the matter who spoke to the Post said the woman was taken to Coney Island Hospital after the ordeal she and her boyfriend endured, where she was said to be in stable condition.

Her status was still unknown on Monday. She was reportedly forced to the ground during the attack.

All this happened while Davon-Bonilla held a knife to her throat, after which he raped her as her helpless boyfriend and his alleged accomplice looked on, police said.

At the time of writing, the incident is still under investigation, with more details expected to be released in court.

According to insiders who spoke to the New York Post, both suspects are migrants, but police have not yet confirmed this.

The NYPD did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for more information on Monday.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
