The failure of a Shenseea concert in the 254 last year led to many fans wondering if another chance for the musician to grace the country would come

Kenyan fans of Jamaican dancehall music sensation Chinsea Linda Lee, better known as Shenseea, could get their wish for a highly-anticipated concert in the country after all.

Organisers of the Raha Festival (Raha Fest) revealed on Thursday, August 8 that they managed to secure the Hit & Run hitmaker as a headlining act during the Raha Fest concert, which will be a two-day event between December 30 and 31, 2024.

The failure of a Shenseea concert in the 254 last year led to many fans wondering if another chance for the musician to grace the country would come, a matter the organisers observed keenly on social media, thus leading to the popular announcement which nearly went unnoticed.

“You asked and we have delivered!!! It’s official, the queen is coming!! Ladies and Gentlemen, we are proud to present your Day 2 headliner for Raha December, the phenomenal Shenseea. Shenyeng where y’all at?!?!?” Raha Fest announced on Instagram in a reel video viewed over 136,000 times.

However, attending the concert during what is expected to be a party atmosphere crossing into 2025 will come at a cost, spanning the two days. A regular ticket will go for Ksh6,000, with the cost five times that amount (Ksh30,000) for a VVIP slot.

VVIP ticket holders will however be treated to an exclusive VVIP dinner and party with the artists, allowing fans to meet the performing artists up close, Shenseea included.

While Shenseea is yet to officially confirm on her side if she will be indeed performing in the country, she did promise on August 23, 2023, that she would give her Kenyan fans a show they will never forget.

The 27-year-old had expressed her heartbreak on learning that her highly anticipated concert in Kenya on August 26, 2023, was rescheduled to a later date, apologizing to Kenyans who had waited for more than a month to see her perform live.

“First off Kenya, let me start by saying that I love you guys so much but I’m sorry everything did not go as we were all expecting. I’m really disappointed because I was looking forward to coming there and having a grand time with you guys but just know that when I do touch down there it’s going to be problems,” she promised.

Viral Tea had first reported that event organisers of the Sababisha Festival which was set to be held at Uhuru Gardens, confirmed her visit to Kenya, noting that they had sought her consent first before making public the announcement.

Shenseea Music Career

Fans can expect high energy from her performances on stage, with the Jamaican star growing from strength to strength since her debut song Loodi with Vybz Kartel in 2016.

Her meteoric rise to fame has seen her collaborate with artists like Tarrus Riley, Vybz Kartel, Swae Lee, Young Thug, and Kanye West’s new album ‘Donda,’ for which she was nominated for a Grammy for Album Of The Year at the 64th Grammy Awards.

She has been one of the fast-rising dancehall stars and DJs out of Jamaica. Her collaboration with Sean Paul on the song Rolling played a big part in increasing her visibility internationally. She has also proved herself with strong and flowing lyrics while in London on shows with DJs like Toddla T and Seani B.

On June 4, 2023, she released a new single titled “Sold Out“, produced by London On Da Track and Dready. It followed her latest single, “Curious,” released in April ahead of her Coachella debut.

In 2022, Shenseea released her highly anticipated debut album, Alpha, which debuted at No.2 on Billboard’s Reggae Album chart. The album featured superstar production from Rvssian (her longtime collaborator and Rich Immigrants founder), Scott Storch, and London On Da Track.

She has accomplished far more than a majority of artists have, with far less at an opportune young age. Her track Hit & Run with Masicka released on January 26 this year became the most famous song by a Jamaican to hit 2 million views on YouTube in 2024 within just 48 hours, its music video surpassing 1 million views in less than 24 hours.

The upcoming Raha Fest will be the second edition following one hosted over two days from Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31, 2024.
