Major Netflix star who left Hollywood to fight ‘climate war’ in Australia unrecognisable at the Melbourne International Film Festival’s opening night red carpet

An Australian Orange Is the New Black star was unrecognisable as she attended the opening night of the Melbourne International Festival on Thursday.

Yael Stone, who played the role of prisoner Lorna Morello in the hit Netflix series, shone as she walked the red carpet in a stunning gown.

The pink and gray silk dress fell loosely around her as she entered, with floral patterns on the bust and sleeves drawing attention.

In contrast to her dark hair and ruby lipstick in the women’s prison drama, Yael opted for a more natural makeup look and dyed her hair a brighter shade of red.

Stone turned away from Hollywood in 2020 for “ethical” reasons.

In response to the 2019-2020 bushfire season in Australia, the actress gave up her US green card and returned Down Under permanently to wage “climate war.”

Stone said she made the decision to give up her life in the United States in 2020 “after a long and deliberate process.”

“We’ve come to the realization that it’s unethical to build a life in two countries, knowing what we know,” Stone said in a video posted to social media at the time, describing the trip as “environmentally unjust.”

“Just the carbon emissions from flying — it’s unethical. It’s not right,” Stone said in her statement.

“So I’m going to go through the process of giving up my green card, and saying goodbye to a life in America. I’m going to do the work that I can here in Australia to make a difference here. Because the time is now.”

Her radiant makeup accentuated her flawless complexion, while her signature long red hair was perfectly styled in loose waves, which fell past her shoulders.

Snook shone on the red carpet with her infectious smile and effortlessly stole the show.

Sarah rose to fame in the series Succession, which ran from 2018 to 2023.
