Kenya To Hold Concert To Celebrate Haiti’s Culture- Govt Details

Scheduled for August 24, 2024, the PS said the event will feature a series of activities which will include musical performances by renowned artists from Haiti and Africa. 

Kenya is set to hold a social event to celebrate Haiti’s culture this August. This is attributed to an initiative by the Government of Kenya, through the State Department for Foreign Affairs and in collaboration with the Africa for Haiti (A4H) Initiative.

Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Singoei Korir announced this on Wednesday, August 7, remarking that Africa and Haiti share deep historical and cultural ties.

“To demonstrate solidarity with the people of Haiti, the State Department for Foreign Affairs and A4H will jointly host an event dubbed ‘Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival,” he announced.

Korir further noted that the event aims to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Haiti and Africa, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.

Scheduled for August 24, 2024, the PS said the event will feature a series of activities which will include musical performances by renowned artists from Haiti and Africa. 

There will also be a cultural exhibition showcasing Haitian and African art, crafts, and cuisine

Korir added that a panel discussion on the historical, cultural, and socio-economic ties between Haiti and Africa will be held as well.

The PS reiterated Kenya’s commitment to continued support in security, governance, and development initiatives, stating that “Kenya looks forward to a stable and prosperous Haiti in the long term.”

This announcement came after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a joint briefing with the Africa4Haiti254 Initiative (A4H) to highlight Kenya’s commitment to the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission in Haiti. 

PS Sing’oei underscored Kenya’s support for Haiti which reflects its unwavering dedication to global peace and stability.

“The MSS Mission has seen substantial progress, with Kenyan forces playing a pivotal role in support of the Haitian Government and the maintenance of security,” he revealed.

The ‘Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival’ is more than just a cultural event; it symbolizes Kenya’s solidarity with Haiti and a shared vision for a harmonious and prosperous future. 

The festival promises to be an enriching experience, bridging cultures and strengthening bonds between the people of Africa and Haiti.
